The Luxury of a Home Sauna

by Lisa VandenDool

Variations exist, but an authentic sauna is lined with wood and has a dry heat source.  Although you will hear people refer to wet and dry saunas, no real difference exists.  A sauna is 'wet' when water has been poured over the stones, creating steam.  A true 'dry' sauna, of course, has this potential. Saunas are a popular choice as a means of relaxation at home.  For many the appeal lies in the penetrating heat.  For others the appeal of a sauna is the minimal amount of maintenance they require. Without the bother of the constant addition of chemicals they are a convenient option that brings luxury to your home.

Adding to the convenience of a sauna is the fact that they can be installed just about anywhere there is enough space.  All you need is an available 220/240V hookup.  Have your sauna installed in your basement or even your bedroom.  If you prefer, an outdoor model that can be an inviting addition to your backyard.

Owning a sauna may bring you some unexpected benefits.  On a cold winter day, a twenty minute stay will provide needed relief.  Your sauna can even help you to fight a cold and provide temporary relief from the aggravating symptoms.  Why not ask an installer for an estimate on a sauna for your home?
