When Jody, of Decatur, Illinois wrote to the Dr. Phil Show she exclaimed, "My husband is king of unfinished projects" It's so overwhelming. The Dr. Phil Show turned to RenovationExperts to help this Do It Yourselfer, who was great at starting home improvement projects, but had trouble completing any of them.
The team at RenovationExperts was up to the challenge and was able to complete three major projects for this family in need.
Project #1: Front Deck: The first thing the RenovationExperts team noticed was the relatively simple project of fixing the front deck.
The deck required the team to build new, reinforced stairs leading to the front door. New railings surrounding the raised porch were also installed. Then they set thier sights on the window that had not been completed when it was installed. By adding some trim and paint they managed to make this room cozy and complete.
Project #2: Kitchen: The RenovationExperts team then moved to the kitchen, where they found a completely non-functional, clutter-filled space.
There was virtually no covered storage or counter space. The team went in and extended countertops to give the space better flow. They then built a number of appliances into the room including inserting a dishwasher into the cabinets next to the sink and installing the microwave into the raised cabinets, which gave the kitchen the counter-space it required. The kitchen flooring, which had been completely carpeted, was replaced with Pergo wood laminate flooring. Next, the kitchen window, which had been installed but was missing the framing, was framed and painted. Finally, the team refaced the pantry area and added doors to the pantry to give the space a cleaner feel. The new cabinets and built in appliances make great use of what used to be a small space.

Project #3: Basement Bathroom: The RenovationExperts Team then moved downstairs to the biggest project of all. The homeowner had started to install a basement bathroom and had left the project with a trench started, no walls built and unfinished space for appliances.
The RenovationExperts team blocked off a section of the unfinished basement to install a luxurious full bathroom, complete with walk in shower with rain showerhead and separate freestanding Jacuzzi tub. Drywall was installed to frame the space. The ceiling finished as well, covering the original ceiling which was a mismatch of suspended ceiling and ceiling tile.
The end result was a spacious room that has consistent flow. Walls were painted white and all lighting was recessed into the 7’ ceilings to give the space an open feel. Brown terracotta ceramic tile flooring was installed. To complete the spa-like warm feel of the room, accessorieswere added in brown, black and white tones.
